A very important place in the Kalina campus of the University of Mumbai has been leased by the Mumbai University administration for eight months of filming Shooting without the permission of the government. The University of Mumbai has given shocking information to RTI activist Anil Galgali that no govt permission, no legal advice has been sought and no tender has been called. 5 acres of land has been leased for Rs. 75 lakhs for 8 months.

Anil Galgali, an RTI activist, had sought various information from Mumbai University about the 5 acres of land allotted to M/s Siddhesh Enterprises for film Shooting. Ashok Ghule, Deputy Secretary, University of Mumbai, informed Anil Galgali that no correspondence has been made with the University of Mumbai regarding permission from the Government of Maharashtra. Also, no tenders were invited for allotment of five acres of land for feature film shooting at Mumbai University to M/s Siddhesh Enterprises.
According to Anil Galgali, it would have been better for the University of Mumbai not to have laid such a wrong foundation in the sacred temple of education. In such a revenue case, if the tender had been issued with the government’s permission and legal advice, the rent would have been in the crores. Because the rent of Filmcity at Goregaon in Mumbai is higher. It was necessary to know the rates there. This is likely to be the involvement of some politicians. Anil Galgali has demanded a high-level inquiry into the matter in a letter to the Governor, Chief Minister and Education Minister.
