Mumbai, 23 January: Under the leadership of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Maharashtra has successfully signed agreements worth Rs 15.7 lakh crore at the World Economic Forum in Davos, marking the highest such investment in the state’s history. This was announced by Industries Minister and Marathi Language Minister Uday Samant.
After returning from Davos, Minister Samant addressed the media at Bandra (East), Mumbai. He stated that over the past two years, agreements worth Rs 7.5 lakh crore have been signed. In the first year, agreements worth Rs 1.37 lakh crore were finalized, and in the second year, agreements worth Rs 3.7 lakh crore were secured. The minister emphasized that when entrepreneurs are provided with timely approvals and land availability, they are ready to invest and set up projects. He also mentioned that production at Coca-Cola’s facility in Ratnagiri will begin within the next two to four months, and the Mahindra and Mahindra project in Pune is also set to commence soon.
Minister Samant further highlighted that around Rs 35,000 crore worth of projects are coming to Ratnagiri, including a semiconductor project that will generate employment for 20,000 young people. He also mentioned the Dhirubhai Ambani Defense Cluster project, estimated at Rs 10,000 to 14,000 crore, which will provide significant job opportunities to unemployed individuals.
Speaking about the state’s policies, Minister Samant mentioned that two years ago, Maharashtra introduced the “Maitri Act,” a transparent law aimed at facilitating entrepreneurs. The government is now improving the Maitri Portal, which will allow officials to provide clear answers about the status of applications, such as how long they have been pending and why. This move, he said, will further ease the process for entrepreneurs and has contributed to record investments in Maharashtra over the last three years.
