Mumbai’s Arti Limje Makes History: First 100% Visually Impaired Indian Woman to Complete 50km Ultra Marathon
NEW DELHI / MUMBAI – March 7, 2026 – In a monumental display of grit and human spirit, Arti Limje, a Mumbai-based professional, etched her name into the record books today at the Zydus Pinkathon Delhi. Arti has officially become the first 100% visually impaired woman in India to successfully complete a 50-kilometer Ultra Marathon.
The historic run took place at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, marking a triumphant return of the Pinkathon to the capital. Arti, who serves as an Administrative Officer at New India Assurance, proved that professional excellence and extreme physical endurance can go hand-in-hand, regardless of physical challenges.
A Journey of Partnership and Mentorship
Arti did not walk this path alone. She completed the grueling 50km distance alongside her husband, Ravindra Singh Rukwal, who acted as her partner and guide throughout the race. Their seamless coordination and shared determination served as a moving example of partnership under pressure.
Arti credits much of her motivation to the iconic fitness duo Milind Soman and Ankita Konwar. Their personal encouragement and the inclusive platform provided by Pinkathon were instrumental in her decision to transition from shorter distances to the elite 50km Ultra category.
Quotes from the Milestone
“Every step was a new challenge, and every kilometer felt like a new history being written,” said Arti Limje following her finish. “I hope this achievement shows every woman, regardless of her circumstances, that no goal is truly out of reach when you have the right support and an unbreakable will.”
